As an academic institution of the University, SNAL offers two diploma programmes namely Diploma in Information and Library Science (DILS) as well as Diploma in Records, Archives and Information Management (DRAM). DILS produces competent personnel who can effectively manage and provide information in an ever-changing environment. The programme equips graduates with knowledge on theories, principles, practices and attitudes necessary to work in library and information sector. It emphasizes on ICT applications in the management and provision of information services. DRAM produces competent personnel who can ensure economy and efficiency in the creation, maintenance, use and disposal of records and in making the information they contain available. The programme equips the graduates with knowledge on theories, principles, practices and attitudes required internationally for records management and archival administration. DRAM puts emphasis on ICT applications in the management of records and archives.
In addition to diploma programmes, SNAL Academic staff are involved in teaching other courses hosted by various units across the University. Library Staff also offer information literacy courses to the entire university community and they supervise postgraduate students who undertake research in fields related to library and information science.
