Soils formed on coral terrain have a wide range of depths to coral bedrock and percentage of coral outcrops. Cliffs and other features of seawater abrasion, limited root zone, habitation and distribution of specific plant species are among the common conditions on Zanzibar coral landscapes. The current study was intended to characterize the relationship between soil depth to coral bedrock (SDCB) and bedrock roughness (BR) and determine features which are related to seawater abrasion at Jozani Groundwater Forest (JGWF).

The Sokoine National Agricultural Library (SNAL) has joined other units in the university to participate at the Sokoine Memorial Week events which included various activities such as  tree planting, scientific/academic presentation and exhibitions from within and outside SUA and the Agriculture and Agribusiness conference.

Chairman of the Council of Sokoine University of Agriculture, Hon. Chief Justice (retired) Mohamed Chande Othman has visited the university campuses on 8th and 9th March 2018 to see various academic and research activities taking place in the university. The Sokoine National Agricultural Library (SNAL) was among the unit the chairman visited to see various services offered by this Library.

The Sokoine National Agricultural Library Director Prof. Alfred S. Sife has been appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Moshi-Co-Operative University (MoCU). The entire SNAL team want to wish Prof.Sife all the best in His new carrier

The Library

The Sokoine National Agricultural Library (SNAL) is a university library as well as a national library for agriculture and allied subjects in Tanzania. It is the largest and most comprehensive agricultural library in the country, and is open to all. Being a national library, we strive to serve not only members of the university community but also any other person in need of information in the country and scholars from all over the world. The library has a strong team of multi-skilled staff with sound subject knowledge. More than 50% holds bachelor degree and more than 30% have postgraduate training in the broad sector of information and library profession. The library has an IT section with qualified staff who manages electronic services and resources. Being an academic institute of the university, SNAL is hosting academic programmes for training at Diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The library is located at the SUA's main campus and has a branch library at Solomon Mahlangu Campus. More information is available under the history of the library.
